January is almost over?!?

I don't even know what happened to the month of January--it's like a time warp happened.  But it's okay!  Because we leave the last day of the month for Disneyworld and we can't wait!  None of us have ever been so it will be an adventure--especially with all the covid rules~but we are super excited.

We kept our New Year's Eve tradition alive again--a family dinner at a nice restaurant.  All the restaurants we were hoping for were not open due to covid (the kids wanted to go back to The Roof in Salt Lake, where we went last year), so we went to Tucano's.  It is still a great place but one we have been to a few times.  We like to try places we either haven't gone or rarely go.  But is was a food extravaganza!  We ate so much and stuffed ourselves to the brim.  They gave the kids party hats to get the full New Year's Eve effect.  It was fun.  Just keep bringing the grilled pineapple!

Over the break we also went hatchet throwing.  We were much better than last time!  I was pretty much the worst but that's ok.  It is always fun to do things together--when the kids don't fight!

To celebrate Sharee's birthday we all took her to lunch at a fun restaurant in Heber--they have installed these cool glass pods to sit in.  They are outside but they close and are heated.  I actually got a little too hot!  It was so cute and fun.  And bonus--the food was great too.
Hillary came into town to help Nate get situated back in Utah after the break.  So Jessica booked the whole family a session at Top Golf.  I'd never been and was a little skeptical since I don't golf at all, but it was really a blast.  There is a tiered building, and you get a "bay" with sofas and heaters and then you get to hit golf balls for 2 hours and try to score points.  There are lots of different games to try.  We all had fun, but Joey had the most fun!  He actually started to get pretty good at it too!  He loved it.
Here's the "teenager bay" next to ours.  Nate was there, he was just hitting a ball when I took this pic.
Maggie getting some lessons from dad...who was by far the best.

It's been a winter packed with stuff--good and bad.  But anything to pass the time when it's muddy and gloomy is fine with me.  Actually this winter has been super mild.  One unfortunate event is that the last day of 2020--December 31--we went skiing and I fell.  It was the end of the day, on a super easy pretty much flat part.  But I fell.  I had skied all day and felt like I was doing really well...but I fell.  Ugh.  And I fell in a way that my knee instantly hurt.  Double ugh.  After sitting for a few minutes I was able to get my ski back on and luckily we were pretty much down the mountain so I was able to get down.  But I went to the doctor the next day because it was pretty sore, and I tore my MCL.  Of course.  I couldn't just fall and be fine.  So annoying.  So now I've got a knee brace and am having to ice my knee and not do anything on it.  I'm worried about Disney but I'm hopeful it will be ok.  It is definitely improving over the last few weeks, and I can walk on it mostly without a limp as long as I don't go fast.  So it will be interesting to see how I get around--maybe a Disney wheelchair is in my future!
